From Engineering Graduate to Oil and Gas Ready
Engineering graduates in Nigeria keep hearing "we need someone with oil and gas experience". Most of that gap is vocabulary, safety habits, the standards, how work flows and being able to name the equipment, and this course closes it. Learn how the industry works and who does what; quality and inspection, from QA and QC to the ten-station OCTG inspection and repair cycle, NDT and traceability; the workshop and pipe-shop machines and how to describe them in an interview; HSE, permits and the JSA; supply chain and inventory; and Nigerian Content. A capstone pipe-yard turnaround gives you a portfolio piece for an assessment centre or a workshop interview. Foundation training: it does not replace accredited certificates such as NDT Level I/II, NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 9001 auditor, CIPS or SAP, and every module points to your next accredited step.
Course Content
Section 1: 00 - Welcome: Why "No Experience" Isn't the End
Section 2: 01 - How the Industry Works
Section 3: 02 - Quality and Inspection
Section 4: 03 - Health, Safety and Environment
Section 5: 04 - Supply Chain and Materials
Section 6: 05 - Nigerian Content
Section 7: 06 - Capstone: The Pipe-Yard Turnaround
What You'll Learn
- Explain what employers usually mean by "oil and gas experience" and plan how to close the gap, separating what foundation training covers from what needs accredited certificates and time on site
- Describe the oil and gas value chain (upstream, midstream, downstream), the roles of operators, service companies, OEM workshops and contractors, and the Nigerian landscape (NUPRC, NMDPRA, PIA 2021, NCDMB, the service bases)
- Distinguish QA from QC, explain OCTG basics (grade, weight, connection, range, pin and box), walk a joint through the ten-station inspection and repair cycle and make accept, repair or reject decisions with full traceability
- Name, describe and explain the safe use of common workshop machines and OCTG pipe-shop equipment, and answer "what equipment have you handled?" clearly and honestly
- Apply stop-work authority, hazard and risk, the hierarchy of controls, permits to work and a job safety analysis to workshop jobs
- Explain how materials flow from requisition to use, set a reorder point, and use inventory ideas such as FIFO, cycle counts, ABC analysis and stock accuracy
- Explain Nigerian Content (the NOGICD Act and NCDMB) and use station capacity, bottlenecks and Little's Law to build and present a pipe-yard turnaround plan
